Brain Study
About a month ago, both my toddlers participated in research studies. One was a study about emotions and the other about toddler brains.
I’ve never been one to volunteer for research before, so I found it surprising that I’m actually doing this. It’s a time commitment and time is my most valuable resource these days. So, why am I doing it?
Good question. The very first study we ever participated in was on toddler memory a few years back. I remember thinking at the time: if I can give researchers just a small glimpse into how children think and learn, maybe it contributes to something bigger than myself. Even though it takes time, I like the idea that these little snapshots of my kids’ lives help paint a picture of how children develop. It reminds me that even the smallest data points matter.
And that's not so different from building KAEIU. Every detail, from the length of a strap to the finish on a buckle can feel small on its own. But together, they tell a larger story about what it means to carry a bag that supports you through the real rhythms of life.
So while my kids are busy helping researchers understand the mysteries of toddler behavior, I’m here continuing my own kind of research: observing, listening, learning, and folding all those insights back into the work I do. Both are slow processes, but both feel worthwhile.
With love,
Maria
